Judging at the RMC 2007

As one of the appointed judges was unable to make it I was asked to judge at the Rhein Main Cup (RMC). I heard a lot about the supreme organization of this competition but still was astonished to find it exceed the expectations. One can learn a lot from just visiting the event.

With Susan Kluytmans, Pim Vermeulen and Hans Pütz I had three very experienced judges on my side. It was a pleasure working with these guys.

The two most incredible performances I was judging that day where a new Dutch record in static (Eric van Riet Paap, 7:07) and an incredible dynamic no fins no arms by William Winram (114m). You can find a video of both Erics and Williams performance on Shark-Freedive.

I also saw the cutest DQ when one athlete got a kiss from his coach/wife right after finishing his SP but before I could wave a white card in his face.

GoTo: martin-gk.de

As I am planning to move my blog to a different provider I have registered this URL in order to have one refferenc for you to go to.

Blogger has no statistic and so I am getting no feedback how many people are reading this and what they are interested in the most.

I am not so sure when it is going to happen and where I move to but if you use this URL, you will allways be directed to the right site.

So, go to www.martin-gk.de

Slowly, slowly... but I'm getting there...

What a wonderful day to go training. It was all rainy all day long. So I got my suit and headed for my peace of paradise... the pool!

After the usual static training (two warm up dives and three dives with at least 2 min fighting to 4'+) I went to practice the mono technique a little moor. Elisabeth taught me a quite nice way to check myself and focus on different aspects.

So I started with 200m swimming, then did one 25m lap with biiig dolphin like duck dives just to relax the body and get into diving mode.

Then 4 laps focusing only on the uper body where the move starts.
4 laps focusing on keeping the legs straight and kick up just as much as down.
4 laps focusing on keeping the arms straight and not move them up and down.

Then I did 6 laps focusing on all three. Here is the outcome:

I know, the arms are moving and the knees are bending but if you’d have seen me two weeks ago... you would not believe your eyes...

One more is here:

If you happen to know something about this and have a tip for me, just comment on this. It is highly appreciated.

Nose clips anyone?

I am going to order another big, big number of those nose clips.

The clips are made of a special kind of plastic that is used for medical implants. The guy who makes them is doing this after work and mostly for the fun of it. He actually works as a dental technician, I think.

So if you want one, choose your colour and let me know to which competitions you are going next.
